Cyber Crime

Cyber Crime

Cyber crime refers to offences that take place either online or using technology. This includes (but is not limited to) hacking, online fraud, and the creation and/or distribution of malware.
What types of Cyber Crime are there?

There are two types of cyber crimes: pure cyber crimes, that occur strictly via an ICT device such as hacking, and cyber-enabled crimes, which is criminal activity that partially involves ICT, such as online fraud.

As the digital world is constantly evolving, the landscape of cyber crime is also an increasingly changing area of law. We will keep you up to date with each progression in this area and ensure that your case is fully equipped to deal with the latest in the digital landscape.

Establishing identity

Identity is a key element in the prosecution of an individual for a case relating to cyber crime. The accused should be identified as the person responsible for using the ICT device for the criminal activity. To establish this, hard drives and event logs are often used as evidence.
